In 1852, Joséphine Antoinette de Lord became the owner of the Versoie spring. Seven years later, in 1859, the municipality of Thonon conducted the first water analyses from the spring, and by the decree of June 22, 1864, the Versoie Spring was declared public property. In 1882, the first drainage basin near the spring was constructed, and the first spa resort was built. By 1890, the water source had been acknowledged by the Academy of Medicine for its public health benefits. In 1963, Thonon water began being bottled and labeled, becoming one of France's newest natural mineral waters.
