In 1852, Joséphine Antoinette de Lord became the owner of the Versoie spring. Seven years later, in 1859, the town of Thonon conducted the first water analyses from the spring, and on June 22, 1864, a decree declared the Versoie Source public property. In 1882, the first drainage basin near the spring was built, and the first spa resort was constructed. By 1890, the source was officially recognized by the Medical Academy of Public Health. In 1963, Thonon water began being bottled, received its label, and became one of France's newest natural mineral waters.
