Very high in minerals, with elevated levels of bicarbonate, calcium, and sodium. Chateldon is extremely rare: only 1,000–2,000 bottles of this sparkling water are produced each day.

Chateldon has been bottled since 1650, longer than any other water. It was renowned for its health benefits even by France’s King Louis XIV, who used a special transport team known as les officiers du gobelet à cheval ("cup officers on horseback") to bring the stream’s water to Versailles. Louis XIV's sun symbol is still featured on Chateldon bottles, which in France are famously known as la “Rolls" des eaux—the Rolls-Royce of waters.
